I was contacted by an author who wanted to create a children's book and needed an illustrator and designer. AlphaBlack was her first book to publish, and she wanted to create an alphabet book that would help children embrace their African heritage and appreciate their culture.
The author had already written the text so my design process began with initial page sketches to match it. Then I sent along color samples to determine what style the author preferred between only outlines, black and white, and full colored illustrations.
The Author preferred the fully colorful pages, so we completed the full book in the same style, along with the cover as the final step before publishing.
